PeteR PaN

Peter Pan

Fly with me into the stars and gaze into the skies.
Peer into my soul, see childlike wonder in my eyes.
Reminisce on the days of old when unhappiness was hid,
On the days of endless wonder, where life's single requirement was to be a kid.
Fighting with Captain Hook or going on adventures with Tink,
Carpe Diem waited for us, there was no time to stop or think.
Wrestling with our comrades and soaring the whole night through,
Never did the thought cross our minds, We have so much work to do!
Life's course has changed and lost innocence has made it tough
To avoid the inevitable fate awaiting us all: that of growing up.
Work encompasses our every hour, stress fills our souls with despair.
At times, we wish we could bring the Peter Pan out in all of us and simply not worry or care.
We wish, we hope, we struggle, we cry.
We wander, we relish, we exhale and sigh,
"Grown up? Who me? No, I'm still a kid,
Donned in big kid clothes, I keep the child in me hid."
It's time to go back, to let go of it all,
Back to the wonder and excitement of Neverland; time to answer its beckoning call.
Back to no more hard choices, no worries, or cares,
Back to simplicity, endless happiness, and a world where life's adventures are shared.
Kids at heart and kids at play,
Zooming through clouds by night and seizing all life has to offer by day.
Why do so many adults reach a point where they forget
The happy thoughts that helped them fly; the way to live with no regrets?
I refuse to accept this fate; to let life take the kid from me.
For in life's magic and brilliance, I will unceasingly believe.
Walking into the darkness, confidently stepping into the unknown,
I'll change my whole life's outlook and make Neverland my home.
Skeptics say it can't be done, but I say that it can,
I don't have to try, for I can fly.
In me, there will always be a Peter Pan.
